Murphy Wealth news: How we’re working to fund raise for charity

Welcome to the new and improved “Wealth of Learning”. We have listened to your feedback and are going to feature more variety in our communications from now on, including a regular section on what’s going on at Murphy Wealth and with our people.

So, to let you know what’s currently happening, here’s Adrian Murphy with an update. Over to you, Adrian!

Fundraising alongside MND Scotland

Many of you will know that I became chairman of MND Scotland just over two years ago. This decision was driven by my brother Brian’s own battle with MND.

Since then, we have been on a journey of transformational change within the MND organisation to help it deliver its mission of making time count for people with MND. We’ve also worked to help fund cutting-edge research in the search for treatment and ultimately a cure for this terrible disease.

Last year I decided to try and raise £40,000 in MND Scotland’s 40th year by undertaking a series of challenging physical events that I know Brian would have loved to do, given the chance.

The main event was the Monster Triathlon which was undoubtably the toughest thing I have done in my life. It involved a 5km swim in Loch Ness, followed by a 1,000km cycle to London, before finishing with a 50km ultra run into the London city centre. The triathlon took place across six challenging days.

Thanks to your generosity I was able to smash the target with the final total raised being more than £75,000 — which means so much to me, my family, and the MND community.

Over the course of taking part in the event, I discovered a new passion for triathlon — and more generally, my own health and wellbeing — which at the ripe old age of 41 is ever more important. It has given me a greater sense of purpose, more energy and, interestingly, less stress.

Recently, I’ve focused on my own enjoyment, but ultimately there is one big challenge ahead — to raise money and awareness for MND Scotland. It’s a cause I will talk about again in the future.

Once again thank you for your support and I look forward to your feedback on our new communication format.
