Introducing Oisin – Your latest Murphy Wealth team update

In this month’s Murphy Wealth team update, meet our graduate Oisin, fresh from a Masters in Finance and Management.

Let’s hand straight over to Oisin.

My story before Murphy Wealth

I knew finance was the area I wanted to get into before university but wasn’t sure what field.

I studied a BA in Law and Economics at the University of Galway before deciding to hone my knowledge in client-facing finance and investment through an MSc in Finance and Management at the University of Glasgow. During my master’s, I fell in love with the city of Glasgow and the array of people I met so decided to begin my pursuit here.

My step into the world of work began in a fintech firm learning asset reconciliations through day trades. This brought me a wealth of investment-focused knowledge and gave me a pivotal understanding of the ins and outs of a career in finance. Though I enjoyed my time there, I realised I needed a more interactive front-office approach which led me to my place at Murphy Wealth.

Murphy Wealth offers a personal workplace and a greater client focus

The philosophy set out by Murphy Wealth – their Human First approach and investment strategy – intrigued me and led me to accept an interview with Neil (director of financial planning) and John (group chairman). They introduced me to the concept that a career in financial planning would allow me to see the rewards of my hard work and the joy and comfort it brought to our clients.

After a further meeting with Adrian (CEO), and seeing the passion he exhibited about what this firm strives to achieve, I was sold. This was the place to further my career in finance and see the rewards of hard work – a Human-First approach with the clients’ needs always in mind.

I’ve had a positive and exciting start to my career at Murphy Wealth

Since starting at Murphy Wealth I’ve found no two days to be the same and abundant opportunities to learn. You are always supported and encouraged to ask questions. The more proactive you are, and the more you show a desire to learn, the more work you are entrusted with. The knowledge I have gained in these few months is invaluable.

There’s a commitment from senior management to focus on the human first and that filters right through the business and its processes. Lines of communication are always open about how to better your experience and the firm.

I’m excited to continue to grow my career with the firm and look forward to the opportunities ahead!
