Before Murphy Wealth Ellen achieved a degree in economics and spent a year living and studying in Germany

“I studied international business with economics at the University of Strathclyde between 2019 and 2023. I was unsure of what to specialise in, but my first-year economics course sparked my interest. I went on to study the subject throughout my time at university, with a particular interest in behavioural economics.

“I was drawn to this particular course as it offered the opportunity to study abroad. Originally, I was going to complete a semester in Brisbane, Australia. Due to the pandemic, though, I chose Mannheim, Germany. Although it wasn’t what I’d planned, living and studying in Germany ended up being one of the highlights of my time at university.”

Ellen discovered Murphy Wealth as a summer intern before heading to Australia

“I first discovered Murphy Wealth in Spring 2023 when I came into the office for a meeting with the Chairman, John, to learn more about the company.

“He explained Murphy Wealth’s “human first” approach and it sparked an interest in the wealth management industry. I was then offered a three-month summer internship after I completed my studies.

“During those three months, I was lucky to go behind the scenes, seeing how the company operates, and I gained invaluable knowledge of the industry. I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the team and when my internship ended, I knew I wanted to continue on this path.

“I still wanted to go to Australia, though, so after my internship finished I moved to Sydney and worked there for almost a year. It was an amazing experience and I was also lucky to tick off Fiji and New Zealand on my travel bucket list while I was there.

“I’m so glad I took the opportunity to travel but I knew that I wanted to come back to Scotland to pursue my career at Murphy Wealth.”

Ellen recently returned from her travels to begin a career here at Murphy Wealth

“I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to fulfil my dream of travelling but it’s been lovely to reunite with team members old and new at Murphy Wealth.

“My colleagues have so much experience and knowledge. I’m excited to learn from them and progress in the world of wealth management and financial planning.”

A warm welcome back to Ellen from all of the Murphy Wealth team and we look forward to working with her again as she begins her career with us.
